Search Phelps County Inmate Records

Phelps County inmate records start with the county jail roster when a person may be in local custody. A Phelps County jail roster search is used to look up Phelps County inmates who are booked into the local jail, held before court, serving a local sentence, or waiting on another agency. The roster is not the same as a full criminal-history file, a state prison search, or a federal detainee search. For Missouri records, custody status, court filings, public-record requests, and victim notifications often sit in separate systems, so the right search path depends on where the person is held now.

Phelps County Jail Roster

The official current-custody path for Phelps County inmate records is the Zuercher current inmates portal linked from the Phelps County Sheriff's Department corrections materials. The roster page text says "Current inmates in Phelps County Jail," and the public configuration limits the in-custody date to the current inmate setting. That is an important limit. The roster is a live jail list, not a complete archive of arrests, prior bookings, case outcomes, or released inmates.

Use the roster first when the person may be at Phelps County Jail after an arrest by the sheriff, Rolla Police, St. James Police, Missouri S&T Police, Missouri State Highway Patrol, or a partner agency. If the person was released, transferred to the Missouri Department of Corrections, taken into federal custody, or housed under immigration authority, the same name may no longer appear on the Phelps County roster. The jail roster also does not replace Case.net for formal court charges after filing.

The sheriff's records fallback is still part of a complete lookup. Current custody can be checked online, but older booking records, arrest reports, incident reports, and records not shown on the roster should be requested through the sheriff's Sunshine Law request page. Missouri public-record law presumes access to many government records, but active investigations, juvenile records, victim data, and other protected details can be redacted or closed.

Use Phelps County Inmate Search

The Zuercher roster is compact. It is best used with a name first, then demographic filters only when those details are known. Guessing at race or sex can hide the right record. The in-custody date field is configured around current custody, so the roster should be treated as a present-day jail search rather than a date-range booking archive.

  1. Open the sheriff's corrections page and choose Current Inmates, or go directly to the Phelps County current inmates roster.
  2. Enter a full or partial name. A last name is often enough for an initial search.
  3. Add race or sex only when the detail is accurate. Leave uncertain filters blank.
  4. Leave In Custody On at the current roster setting. The Phelps County configuration is for current inmates.
  5. Select Search, review the table, and use Reset if a filter may have narrowed the list too far.
  6. For charges, bond entries, hearings, or later case status, search Missouri Case.net or call the Phelps County Circuit Clerk Criminal Division.

Phelps County Roster Fields

The public Zuercher configuration for Phelps County exposes four roster search controls. Other Zuercher software templates can support fields such as cell block, held-for agency, arrest date, or release date, but those were not in the Phelps County available filter list captured for this roster. The table below matches the inspected Phelps County current-inmates route.

Field LabelTypeRequiredNotes
NameTextUnspecifiedFree-text name search. Use a last name, full name, or partial name.
RaceDropdown or comboboxNoUse only when known. Options load from the roster controls model.
SexDropdown or comboboxNoUse only when known. An incorrect choice can exclude the right person.
In Custody OnDateEffectively fixed current dateThe configuration uses the current-inmates setting and the user interface treats the date as read-only.

Because this Phelps County inmate search is current-custody focused, a blank result does not prove that no arrest occurred. It may mean the person has been released, moved to another jurisdiction, booked under a different name spelling, or transferred to state, federal, or immigration custody.

Phelps County Inmate Record Fields

The public roster row is a field inventory, not a full booking packet. The captured Phelps County result columns are limited to identification and arrest-date details. Charges, bond, court dates, cell block, held-for agency, and release date are not shown in the inspected Phelps County available-columns list, even though some of those fields exist in generic Zuercher templates.

FieldWhat It Shows
MugshotPhoto column. The template can show a booking photo when available or a user icon placeholder when not.
NameThe inmate name as stored in the jail roster system.
RaceRace value recorded in the jail system and exposed as a roster column.
SexSex value recorded in the jail system and exposed as a roster column.
AgePhelps County uses age instead of publishing a full date of birth in the captured setting.
Arrest DateThe arrest date formatted by the roster portal.

For the missing parts of a case, move to the correct office. Bond is set by the court or warrant. Formal charges are checked through Case.net and the Circuit Clerk. A police narrative, booking packet, or incident report may require a Sunshine Law request to the sheriff, and the sheriff may redact material that Missouri law allows or requires to be withheld.

Phelps County Jail Contact

Phone and front-counter contact matter when the roster is delayed, a name is misspelled, a release is recent, or a hold has to be confirmed. The jail and sheriff's office share the same public address and main contact block. Use the phone line for custody-status questions, then use the Sunshine Law process for records that are not available online.

Phelps County Custody Channels

A complete Phelps County inmate records search follows the custody system. The county roster is the best first stop for a current local inmate. The Missouri DOC search is for sentenced state offenders and active supervision. BOP and ICE tools cover separate federal systems. VINELink is for notification, not a full case file.

County Roster Versus DOC

Readers often search the wrong system after a Phelps County arrest. The jail roster is a local detention list. It covers people who are still physically held at the county jail or listed as current inmates by that roster. The Missouri Department of Corrections locator begins to matter after a person is sentenced to DOC custody or is under active probation or parole supervision. Federal and immigration searches are separate again.

SystemBest ForWhat It Is Not
Phelps County rosterPretrial inmates, local sentenced inmates, warrants, local holds, and current jail custody. Not a full criminal-history, court, state prison, or federal custody database.
Missouri DOC locatorSentenced state offenders, probationers, and parolees who are active with DOC.Not a current county booking-photo roster.
BOP locatorFederal sentenced inmates and certain former federal inmates. Not a county jail roster and not a Missouri DOC search.

Phelps County Jail Visits

After a roster lookup confirms current custody, visitation goes through HomeWAV. Phelps County states that face-to-face glass visits are no longer used. On-site visits take place on jail monitors, while remote visits can be made from home through a HomeWAV account. Some accounts need facility approval, and the HomeWAV page says approval can take up to 24 hours.

Visit TypeScheduleScheduling and CostKey Rules
On-site HomeWAVMonday and Saturday, 6:00 am-6:00 pmSchedule at least 24 hours ahead; one time per week.Check at the front window before using kiosks.

All HomeWAV visits30-minute visits per handbookAccount approval may take up to 24 hours. No nudity, no 3-way calls, proper dress, and no intoxicated visitors.

On-site visitors are subject to search, and visits can stop during a security lockdown. Anyone released from Phelps County Jail custody is barred from on-site HomeWAV visits with current inmates for 90 days after release.

Booking Records After Lookup

Booking begins after arrest or warrant service, transport to Phelps County Jail, intake, search, property inventory, medical or medication review, booking photo, fingerprint or identity work, classification, and assignment to holding or a pod. The public materials do not publish a guaranteed delay between booking and roster display. A person can be inside the intake process before a public row appears.

Property and service rules are local. The jail accepts limited outside property, such as prescription glasses or contacts in proper form, oral aids in unopened packages, and prescription medication in current valid bottles labeled with the inmate name. After release, property is held for seven days. Transport dates are not discussed for safety. Commissary funds are separate from bond, and bond questions should be checked with the jail, court clerk, and Case.net as needed.

Booking

Classification

Note: For a person who cannot be found online, call the jail before sending money, scheduling a visit, or traveling to Rolla.
